We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Web UI Engineer with a strong background in user experience and interface design. As a member of our team, you will design and implement user interfaces and tools for a highly collaborative team of operations, hardware, and deep learning experts. We seek a developer with a high attention to detail who can effectively communicate about sophisticated workflows and use-cases, and use these discussions to drive the design and development of effective and intuitive user interfaces. The ability to develop simple APIs for backend applications is a plus. This position requires a drive for continuous innovation on existing processes and a strong focus on collaboration.
Description
This role will primarily focus on developing interfaces and tools to support machine learning teams and large-scale human data annotation. The position requires collaboration with multiple teams including machine learning, data scientists, and annotation operations teams. You will work with a diverse team in an outstanding environment where your skills and expertise will enhance our products.
Responsibilities:
- Be responsible for full design process from establishing requirements, defining features, and developing deliverables rooted in user-centered design and feasibility, to support large-scale annotation efforts
- Distill sophisticated design and interaction concepts, present, and discuss them with engineers and stakeholders
- Iterate on intuitive experience concepts through rapid prototyping
- Develop user interfaces to monitor quality, costs, and make projections across a large number of simultaneous data gathering projects
- Represent our team within multi-functional groups, ensuring that user interface designs meet operational needs and technical requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience
- Proven experience building scalable and highly performant consumer facing web applications
- Proficiency with modern web technologies like HTML5, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript
- Proven competence in at least one JavaScript framework like Vue, React, Angular, or similar technologies
- Familiarity with the complete web stack, including protocols and web performance optimization techniques
- Comfortable working independently and collaborating with multi-functional partners in design, software, hardware to find simple solutions to complex problems
Key Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
- Expert knowledge of user-centered UI/UX design principles and a strategic vision for crafting innovative design solutions
- Proficiency in writing and maintaining unit and E2E tests using frameworks and libraries such as Jest, Mocha, Vitest, or Playwright
- Experience with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD to create mockups and ability to translate these into functional code
- Experience working with and building REST APIs and GraphQL endpoints
- Experience with the challenges of cross-browser development, including Chrome and Safari on macOS, Windows, iPadOS, and iOS
- Keen eye for detail
- Experience or curiosity about gaining experience working with Machine Learning and data driven AI Teams

- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $135,400 and $250,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
