Job Description

Peer Health Educators are a highly valuable student position to the UAA community. They provide bystander intervention training for sexual assault/domestic violence prevention across campus. We are looking for high energy individuals that are excited to engage their fellow students in learning about healthy behaviors and lifestyles. Be part of an energized team!

Peer Health Educators will work within the Student Health and Counseling Center and will develop presentation, group communication, planning, decision-making, and other leadership skills. This position is 5 hours per week with frequent evening and weekend programming.

To thrive in this role, a successful candidate would have Health Promotion experience, presentation skills, and mentoring experience. Interest in programming on primary prevention of sexual assault education is a plus. Having good verbal communication and pleasant interpersonal skills would be crucial. This position would also benefit from good organizational skills, and being dependable and able to demonstrate leadership. You must be able to work with diverse communities and work independently and as a team. Participation in previous university clubs and organizations preferred.

Minimum Qualifications:

To be eligible for student employment, an applicant must have the following requisites: 1) They must be enrolled at the University of Alaska Anchorage with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment; 2) Have at least a 2.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA); 3) Have completed one semester at the University of Alaska Anchorage with at least 6 credit hours.

Position Details:

This is a part-time, up to 10 hours a week, student position, starting pay $15.26/hour.

This is a pooled position, which means that the position remains open over the entire academic year.
