Job Description
What are you going to do United States Human Resources:
- Ensures human resource services are efficiently and effectively delivered at sites.
- Partners with client groups to understand and address business issues.
- Manages the full-cycle recruitment process for assigned roles in the United States, including sourcing, pre-screening, interviewing, extending offers and conducting onboarding.
- Provides guidance, direction, and advice on employment related issues across all HR disciplines including the interpretation and application of legislation, corporate policies and HR programs and processes, ensuring compliance and consistent application.
- Investigates, manages, and mitigates potential risk with disciplinary employee related issues.
- Manages and prepares necessary documentation (promotions, transfers, relocations, leaves, terminations, etc.) advising payroll.
- Acts as first point of contact responding to inquiries and handling concerns in a timely manner.
- Conducts thorough and objective investigations while writing concise and legally defensible documentation when warranted.
- Ensures compliance with relevant legislation and requirements, including FMLA, ADA, EEO, I9 employment verification, etc.
- Identifies, triages, and addresses employee relations issues, including performance management, leave of absences, conflict resolution and other people-related issues.
- Maintains legally required personnel records, files, and HRIS database.
- Participates in the oversight of the USA benefits and 401K programs, including managing the open enrollment process, etc.
Global Mobility:
- Coordinates the end-to-end process for relocating employees and new hires, including pre-assignment planning, on-assignment support, and repatriation.
- Ensures a seamless transition for employees moving between international locations.
- Collaborates with immigration lawyers to secure work permits, visas, and other necessary documentation for employees.
- Manages the administration of expatriate assignments, including benefits, compensation packages, relocation service providers, and tax considerations.
- Provides ongoing support and guidance to expatriates and their families throughout the assignment.
- Works closely with internal teams, including finance, payroll, and legal to facilitate smooth transitions.
- Advises employees with their immigration process such as visa applications, work permits, and other immigration procedures.
- Other related duties as may be assigned.
Essential skills and knowledge - Bachelor's degree or College Diploma in Human Resources Management or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years' experience in Human Resources in managing complex HR issues in a multi-state organization with focus on global mobility or international human resources.
- In-depth knowledge of global mobility processes, immigration laws, and expatriate administration.
- Knowledge of applicable legislation, including but not limited to, FMLA, ADA, EEO, etc.
- Working proficiency in English and Spanish.
- Proficient with Microsoft Suite and HRIS systems.
- Ability to travel to north and south America.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
- Detail-oriented individual with excellent research skills and knows where to obtain information.
- Experience working in the mining industry is an asset.
