We are seeking a Head of Post to lead, grow, and elevate our in-house Post Production department. This leadership role combines strategic vision, hands-on expertise and a passion for Post Production. You must have a strong background in cutting-edge post-production technologies with a drive to refine workflows, foster cross-departmental collaboration, and deliver the highest quality content. You will be an ambassador of Sawhorses’ culture and build on both existing and new labor, vendors and client relationships.

Our office is located in Los Angeles. While we are a remote-first company, occasional in-office presence in Los Angeles will be required to set up teams for in-person edits, on set visits, overseeing hardware/software workflows, and participate in edit sessions.

Requirements

  • Lead and oversee all aspects of the Post Production department, driving growth and operational excellence, representing Post Production in department-wide meetings.
  • Have a strong bias for action and continuous process improvement, implement best practices, and establish refined workflows for both post-production and IT systems in concert with our IT department. 
  • Lead by example, manage and oversee 10+ simultaneous projects at different stages, ensuring creative quality, efficiency, and client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop cross-department workflows to streamline collaboration between Post, Creative Production and interactive. 
  • Stay at the forefront and exhibit a deep passion for emerging post-production technologies, including Unreal Engine, volume stages, generative AI, and ensure their successful implementation.
  • Lead recruitment efforts and build a roster of top-tier talent, such as editors, VFX artists, Graphic Designers, etc as well as a network of trusted vendors.
  • Mentor team members and foster a collaborative, innovative, and supportive environment.
  • Provide creative feedback, QC content, and ensure all deliverables meet the highest standards.
  • Exhibit a positive, client-first attitude. Always exude a proactive and solution-oriented approach to define project scopes, budgets, and schedules while maintaining clear communication and expectations.
  • Responsible for supporting business development and the growth of the Post Production department, including representing the department on set, at industry events, award shows, through general outreach efforts, and by building on relationships with existing clients.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in post-production, including 3+ years in a Head of Post.
  • Previous experience leading an in-house post production team.
  • Proven ability to manage teams, inspire leadership, and build a collaborative and innovative culture.
  • Experience integrating post-production workflows across all departments, including Creative, Production and Post Production.
  • Expertise in general office and post-production workflows, including tools like Google Suite, Adobe Premiere, Da Vinci Resolve, Avid, and IT-based systems.
  • Strong understanding of 3D graphics and VFX pipelines.
  • Exposure or strong interest in Unreal Engine, Generative AI, Volume Stages and similar emerging technologies.
  • Keen to stay at the forefront of emerging technologies.
  • Strong client-facing skills, with experience guiding projects from intake through delivery.
  • Manage and track both schedules and budgets through the project lifecycle to ensure the project is meeting scheduling and budgeting goals. 
  • Based in Los Angeles or willing to relocate, with the ability to work in the office as needed.
  • Network of past Freelance Post Production talent and external vendors.

Nice to Have

  • Understanding of UGC gaming platforms/Metaverse, Roblox and other interactive experiences.
  • Post management with Films, TV Shows or Docuseries.
  • Creating assets and post supervising Live Streams.

This position is full-time, typically M-F, 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM PST, and will begin with an initial 90-day probationary period
