Job Description

The Educational Resource Assistant, under the direction of the Executive Director or Designate, is responsible for providing assistance as a member of the students’ learning team in the education and support of students of the Strengthening Hamilton’s Aboriginal Education (SHAE) program. 

Qualifications:

• 2-year post-secondary diploma in Education Field, Indigenous Studies or a combination of equivalent and relevant education; 
• Experience working in a community organization and/or experience with Indigenous population; 
• Experience working with youth; 
• Strong knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture and history, with particular on the emphasis on the impacts of trauma and community outreach;  
• Knowledge of Indigenous and non-Indigenous community services and supports; 
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and First Aid/CPR certification is an asset; 
• Sufficient skills in use of Microsoft Office applications and 365; 
• High flexibility with strong interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse environment;
• Valid driver’s license with clear driving record and have access to reliable transportation is an asset; and,
• Satisfactory Criminal Record check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
