Department Information Georgia Southern Athletics
Job Summary The Assistant Athletic Director, Administration will serve as the chief of staff to the Director of Athletics and Executive Staff. This role entails advancing the Director's agenda through strategic planning, cross-functional engagement, and execution of special projects. Responsibilities include coordinating and managing essential departmental activities, optimizing business functions for efficiency, and continuously enhancing internal processes. The role will also advise on stakeholder and public relations initiatives, ensuring alignment with the department's goals. Additionally, the Assistant Athletic Director will collaborate closely with the Director of Athletics on departmental initiatives, from meticulous event planning to strategic oversight, maintaining focus on the broader vision and mission. They will support the Chief Operating Officer on designated projects and assist the Athletic Foundation, as directed by the Deputy Director of Athletics for Advancement and the Athletic Foundation Board. Moreover, the role will oversee the planning and execution of all internal and external events for the Director of Athletics, demonstrating a commitment to excellence in organizational management and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities - Oversee large-scale cross-functional projects and initiatives
- Collaborate with the Director of Athletics (AD) to develop and advance departmental vision and strategic plan
- Manage official correspondence and communications on behalf of the AD
- Assist in cultivating and stewarding major gift donors, letterwinners, and sponsors
- Identify and assess internal and external opportunities, as well as challenges impacting the department
- Assist in planning, implementing, evaluating, and executing the department's strategic plan, staff development, and special projects
- Keep the AD informed of current company climate and project statuses
- Work with team leaders to ensure clarity, efficiency, and success in presentations to senior staff
- Build strong relationships with employees, overseeing their progress and addressing issues
- Coordinate department-wide procedures and improve existing processes for efficiency and success
- Attend executive meetings and deliver progress reports as directed
- Act as a professional advisor to the AD on departmental activities
- Facilitate effective teamwork among the AD, executive staff, and Athletics department
- Assist in managing data collection for decision-making related to strategic planning, staff development, NCAA legislation, and facilities
- Represent the department at Athletics, Campus, and Community events to enhance visibility and profile, ensuring alignment with mission and values
Required Qualifications Educational Requirements
Required Experience
- Three (3) or more years of related experience
